Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Purchase Seven Police Vehicles from Capital Chevrolet, Inc., of Raleigh, NC in the Amount of $377,824 from the Fleet Replacement Fund

LEGISLATIVE INTENT/PURPOSE:
WHEREAS, with the adoption of the FY24 Fleet Replacement Budget, City Council authorized the purchase and replacement of four (4) police vehicles; and,
WHEREAS, three (3) additional vehicles are being requested as K-9 units, which are early replacements due to mechanical issues; and,
WHEREAS, N.C.G.S. §143-129(e)(9) provides an exception to the procedures for letting public contracts for purchases made through a contract established by the State or a state agency if the contractor is willing to extend the same or more favorable prices, terms, and conditions; and,
WHEREAS, the North Carolina State Contract was awarded to Capital Chevrolet, Inc., of Raleigh, North Carolina, which has extended the same prices and terms to the City of Wilmington; and,
WHEREAS, the total cost of the seven (7) units is $377,824, and all seven (7) of these units are currently built and waiting at the dealership.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT, the procurement of the requested equipment pursuant to N.C.G.S. §143-129(e)(9) is authorized and appropriate.
THAT, the City Manager is hereby authorized to purchase, and to execute any agreements required to do so, seven (7) police vehicles from Capital Chevrolet, Inc., of Raleigh, NC, for the total amount of $377,824.
