Resolution Adopting the Greenfield Park Master Plan

LEGISLATIVE INTENT/PURPOSE:
At the February 20, 2024 City Council meeting the Greenfield Master Plan was presented by design consultant McAdams.
The plan has four main objectives including a landscape and maintenance plan, a staffing analysis, safety and security assessment and identifying and prioritizing capital improvements. It also highlights the 100-year anniversary of Greenfield Park taking place in 2025.
The information and recommendations found in the plan represent a comprehensive site and infrastructure analysis, public participation process, research, and evaluation of Greenfield Park. This plan will be used to guide the short-term maintenance and long- term capital investments required to sustain Wilmington’s largest park.
The master planning effort was undertaken to assist the city in accomplishing the goals through incremental investment and phasing projects by identifying priorities. This master plan aims to improve the historic park to ensure it is a safe, well-maintained, and memorable place within the community for generations to come by honoring its past, embracing the present and transforming the future.
On February 21st, 2024 the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board reviewed the Greenfield Master Plan and voted unanimously to recommended adoption of the plan to City Council.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT, the Greenfield Park Master Plan, 2024, is hereby adopted by Wilmington City Council.
