Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Enter into an Agreement with Otis Elevator Company in the Amount of $98,000 for Elevator Maintenance and Repair Services at 929 North Front Street

LEGISLATIVE INTENT/PURPOSE:
WHEREAS, all elevators in the Skyline Center located at 929 North Front Street (“Skyline”) are manufactured by Otis Elevator Company (“Otis”) and currently under warranty with Otis; and,
WHEREAS, Otis has been providing elevator maintenance and repair services for Skyline since the City purchased the building in 2023; and,
WHEREAS, failure to renew a contract with Otis could adversely affect the warranty of the elevators in Skyline, effectively making Otis the sole source provider for these services, and creating an exemption under N.C.G.S. §143-129(6) to the requirement for bidding out these services at this time; and,
WHEREAS, the amount of the contract with Otis in the amount of $98,000 will allow Otis to continue to provide elevator maintenance and repair services for Skyline until June 30, 2025.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT, the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Otis Elevator Company in the amount of $98,000 for elevator maintenance and repair services at the Skyline Center located at 929 North Front Street through June 30, 2025.
