Resolution Authorizing the Award of a Construction Contract in the Amount of $1,160,076 to Harp Builders, Inc. for the Riverwalk North Marina Repair Project (2CRRF0810)

LEGISLATIVE INTENT/PURPOSE:
WHEREAS, this resolution authorizes the award of a construction contract for the Riverwalk North Marina Repair Project (“Project”) to Harp Builders, Inc. (“Harp”), in the amount of $1,160,076, which includes the base bid and all alternates; and,
WHEREAS, the Project will adjust and level the existing concrete Riverwalk to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) regulations by enhancing the strength and stability of the subsoils; and,
WHEREAS, the construction method for the Project involves injecting grout into underlying voids in the soils to improve the load-bearing capacity through compaction and adhesion, and this concrete leveling grout injection process offers a practical and efficient solution for correcting uneven concrete surfaces; and,
WHEREAS, the construction contract includes the initial grout injection to stabilize the underlying soils and level the concrete walkway, as well as spot repairs that may be required for the following two years; and,
WHEREAS, Harp Builders., Inc. of Wilmington, NC was the lowest responsive, responsible bidder.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT, the City Manager is authorized to award the construction contract for the Riverwalk North Marina Repair Project to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Harp Builders., Inc., of Wilmington, NC, in the amount of $1,160,076 (2CRRF0810).
