Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Enter into an Agreement to Purchase 58 Sets of Firefighting Coats and Pants from NAFECO of Decatur, AL for $220,886 Through the NPPGov Government Cooperative Buying Agreement

LEGISLATIVE INTENT/PURPOSE:
This Resolution authorizes the purchase of 58 sets of firefighting coats and pants from NAFECO of Decatur, Alabama.
The protective clothing is worn by firefighters when working in a hazardous environment.
N.C.G.S. 143-129(e)(3) provides for an exception to the procedures for letting public contracts if purchases are made through a competitive bidding group procurement program, which is a formally organized program that offers competitively obtained purchasing services at discount prices.
NPPGov Government Cooperative Buying Agreement conducted a full and open competitive solicitation for this equipment and awarded the contract to NAFECO of Decatur, Alabama.
The additional firefighting coats and pants provided for in this resolution are compatible with the Wilmington Fire Department’s current firefighting gear, and the cooperative buying agreement purchase price.
Funding for this purchase was approved by City Council in the FY25 Adopted Budget
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT, the procurement of the equipment pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-129(e)(3) is authorized and appropriate; and
THAT, the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement for the purchase of 58 sets of firefighting coats and pants from NAFECO of Decatur, Alabama for $220,886 through the NPPGov Government Cooperative Buying Agreement.
