Body

LEGISLATIVE INTENT/PURPOSE:

WHEREAS, this resolution authorizes the City to execute a contract in the amount of $310,215 for the purchase and installation of security cameras in the downtown area, to be monitored by the Wilmington Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center; and,

WHEREAS, the primary purpose of these cameras will be to assist the Homeless Outreach Unit in addressing the needs of the unsheltered population with medical, social and legal issues; and,

WHEREAS, American Rescue Plan Act (“ARPA”) funding is available to assist the unsheltered population and will be used to pay for this expense.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

THAT, the contract with Johnson Controls, Inc. is authorized and appropriate without a formal bidding process, pursuant to N.C.G.S. §143-129(e)(6), as standardization and compatibility with existing security camera equipment are the overriding considerations.

THAT, the City Manager is hereby authorized to negotiate and execute a contract with Johnson Controls, Inc. in an amount up to $310,215 for the purchase and installation of security cameras in the downtown area.
