Resolution Authorizing the Award of a Contract to 4 Seasons Demolition, Inc. in the Amount of $583,000 for Professional Demolition Services Involving City-Owned Structures Located at 305 and 315 Chestnut Street

LEGISLATIVE INTENT/PURPOSE:
WHEREAS, the City of Wilmington currently owns the properties located at 305 and 315 Chestnut Street (“Property”), which was once used by the City as office space for various operations; and,
WHEREAS, on February 21, 2023, City Council passed a resolution declaring the Property surplus, contingent on the successful acquisition of 929 N. Front Street; and,
WHEREAS, on July 13, 2023, the City successfully acquired 929 N. Front Street, resulting in the Property being designated as surplus; and,
WHEREAS, as of April 2024, the City has fully vacated the office space associated with the Property and is in the process of moving and replacing network infrastructure located on the Property; and,
WHEREAS, the City issued a Request for Proposals for demolition services on the Property, with five (5) total proposals received, and 4 Seasons Demolition, Inc. receiving the highest score based on the established criteria.
WHEREAS, the demolition of the structures will serve to enhance the disposition value of the Property and expedite its timeline for redevelopment.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT, the City Manager is authorized to execute a contract with 4 Seasons Demolition, Inc. for professional demolition services for City-owned structures located at 305 and 315 Chestnut Street in the amount of $583,000, and that sufficient funding currently exists to support the award of this contract.
