Resolution Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Contract for Emergency Repair to Chiller #1 at Skyline Center with Brady Services Holdings, Inc. in the Amount of $230,919 (Budget Impact: CP Buildings)

LEGISLATIVE INTENT/PURPOSE:
WHEREAS, the City contracts with Brady Services Holdings, Inc. (“Brady”), for regularly scheduled preventative maintenance for all heating and cooling systems at 929 N Front Street (“Skyline Center”); and,
WHEREAS, during a regularly scheduled maintenance service it was discovered that the Skyline Center’s Chiller #1 had experienced a critical failure of the integral motor which is original to the system; and,
WHEREAS, the full rebuilding and replacement of the motor is required to enable the system to function as designed; and,
WHEREAS, the proprietary Trane chiller system requires that Brady, an authorized Trane company, rebuild, replace, and install the motor to maintain the warranty and compatibility of the system; and,
WHEREAS, while the unit is disassembled, additional work to other components of the system will also be performed to extend the service life of the system; and,
WHEREAS, sufficient funding in the amount of $230,919 exists to award this repair and improvement contract.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
THAT, the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute a contract with Brady Services Holdings, Inc. for emergency repair of Chiller #1, in the amount of $230,919.
