Ordinance to Extend the Corporate Limits of the City of Wilmington, North Carolina

LEGISLATIVE INTENT/PURPOSE:
WHEREAS, the City of Wilmington has been petitioned under N.C.G.S. ?160A-58.1 to annex the area described below; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Wilmington has, by resolution, directed the City Clerk to investigate the sufficiency of the petition; and,
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has certified the sufficiency of the petition, and a public hearing on the question of this annexation was held at 102 North 3rd Street, Wilmington, NC at 6:30 p.m. on December 3, 2024, after due notice by public notice in the Wilmington Star News on November 22, 2024, and November 29, 2024; and,
WHEREAS, City Council finds that the area described therein meets the standards of N.C.G.S. ?160A-58.1; and,
WHEREAS, City Council further finds that the petition has been signed by the owner of real property who is required by law to sign; and,
WHEREAS, City Council further finds that the above described property is non-contiguous to the corporate limits of the City of Wilmington; and,
WHEREAS, City Council further finds that the petition meets the standards of Policies for Voluntary Annexation, as adopted by City Council on February 19, 2013; and,
WHEREAS, City Council further finds that the petition is otherwise valid, and that the public health, safety, and welfare of the City of Wilmington and of the area proposed for annexation will be best served by annexing the area described.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED:
Section 1. By virtue of the authority granted to City Council by N.C.G.S. ?160A-58.1, the following described non-contiguous territory is hereby annexed and made part of the City of Wilmington:
OUTER BOUNDARY LEGAL DESCRIPTION FOR PAULA JOHNSON HONEYCUTT TRACTS 1-3, EDUARDO S. ZAVALA, AND TURTLE TRAIL HOLDINGS
