Road Tractor Resolution

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement to purchase a 2025 Freightliner PT126DC Road Tractor from Velocity Truck Centers, LLC, of Greensboro, NC.   This is the companion item to an ordinance to appropriate $121,526 from Stormwater Fund balance to the Stormwater Capital Equipment Line to cover the cost for the purchase of a replacement for an existing Road Tractor.

BACKGROUND:

The existing Road Tractor to be replaced by this purchase is nearly 25 years old. This vehicle is utilized by the Operations Division, Stormwater and Streets, of the Public Works Department.  It is an essential piece of equipment used to haul heavy equipment using a lowboy trailer, and it has a direct impact on the ability of Public Works to complete pipe, road, and sidewalk repairs as well as providing support for maintenance activities.

budget

BUDGET IMPACT:

Funding for this purchase is available in the Stormwater Capital Equipment Line, per the companion ordinance, and the Fleet Replacement Fund. This purchase is enabled through the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association purchasing contract.
