PURPOSE:

Attached for your consideration is a resolution accepting the certification of the sufficiency of a petition for annexation. This requested voluntary annexation pertains to multiple parcels of land totaling 8.265 acres, located at 904, 912, and 1000 N. Kerr Avenue.

BACKGROUND:

On April 1, 2025, City Council approved a resolution directing the City Clerk to investigate the sufficiency of a Petition for Annexation for a voluntary contiguous annexation of parcels of land totaling 8.265 acres, located at 904, 912, and 1000 N. Kerr Avenue.

The petition complies with the statutory requirements for contiguous annexation and is therefore sufficient for Council consideration. An associated conditional district zoning application has been filed to rezone the property from New Hanover County RMF-L, Residential, to MD-10(CD), Medium-density Multiple-dwelling residential (Conditional District) for a 79-unit townhome development.
