PURPOSE:

The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to execute agreement 11092 with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (“NCDOT”) to receive funding in the estimated amount of $1,911,000. The final amount of funding that the City will receive from the NCDOT will be dictated by the actual construction costs.

BACKGROUND:

This pavement resurfacing work is occurring in conjunction with the Dawson-Wooster Streetscaping Project, which is part of the voter-approved Transportation Bond. This project consists of curb bump outs, filling sidewalk gaps, improved pedestrian access, improved ADA access, and resurfacing of Dawson Street and Wooster Street between 3rd Street and 17th Street.  Dawson Street and Wooster Street are owned and maintained by NCDOT.

BUDGET IMPACT:

NCDOT agreed to participate in the actual construction costs directly related to the resurfacing of Dawson Street and Wooster Street from Third Street to Seventeenth Street. The agreed upon estimated construction costs for resurfacing are $1,911,000. The final reimbursable amount will be determined once bids for the project have been received.
