Attachment #1: Ordinance

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this ordinance is to appropriate funds from the North Carolina Department of Transportation (“NCDOT”) to reimburse the City for actual construction costs of pavement resurfacing work on Dawson Street and Wooster Street from 3rd to 17th Streets.

BACKGROUND:

The pavement resurfacing work is occurring in conjunction with the Dawson-Wooster Streetscaping Project, which is part of the voter approved Transportation Bond. This project consists of curb bump outs, filling sidewalk gaps, improved pedestrian access, improved ADA access, and resurfacing of Dawson Street and Wooster Street between 3rd Street and 17th Street. Dawson Street and Wooster Street are owned and maintained by NCDOT, and NCDOT has agreed to reimburse the City actual construction costs associated with the pavement resurfacing work.

budget

BUDGET IMPACT:

The estimated reimbursable amount, agreed upon by both parties, is $1,911,000, and is to be paid to the City at the completion of the project. NCDOT has committed to reimbursing the actual construction costs per the negotiated agreement.
