Attachment #1: Resolution Attachment #2: NC State Regional Response Contract

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to enter into an agreement with the State of North Carolina to provide Regional Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Team Services.

BACKGROUND:

Since the mid 1990's, the City of Wilmington has provided regional hazardous materials response services for a seven-county region for the State of North Carolina. This agreement allows the Wilmington Fire Department to maintain highly technical tools and equipment for hazardous material releases within the seven-county region. Much of the equipment provided by the State is available for use by the City, thus saving local taxpayers thousands of dollars that would not have been available without this State funding.

budget

BUDGET IMPACT:

None. The agreement provides reimbursement for all equipment and salaries of personnel utilized during a response either in the City or to another location when requested by the State.
