PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to enter into a five (5) year agreement for uniform rental services with UniFirst Corporation (“UniFirst”), through the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Program, contingent upon approval of the FY26 budget.
BACKGROUND:
This agreement will supply sets of clean uniforms on a weekly basis to departments and divisions within the City, including Public Works, Recycling & Trash Services, Streets, Stormwater, the Golf Course, Fire, and Fleet.
The current agreement with UniFirst expires on June 30, 2025. Staff have confirmed with the impacted departments that, based on the quality and level of services provided by UniFirst, the continuation of the services with the current provider is warranted.
This agreement will be awarded through the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Program. North Carolina General Statue §143-129-(e)(3) provides an exception to the procedures for letting public contracts for acquisitions made through a competitive bidding group purchasing program such as Sourcewell.

BUDGET IMPACT:
This agreement will have a five (5) year term, with an annual cost estimate of $40,789, providing a total estimate of $203,943 over the five (5) years. FY26 funding is contingent upon budget approval.
