PURPOSE:
Attached for City Council’s consideration is a resolution to appoint Kaity Boyd as the City’s Tax Collector. Kaity recently accepted the position of Tax Collector due to internal promotions created from retirement within the department.
BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to Section 9.4 of the Wilmington City Charter, City Council shall appoint a tax collector for the City who shall have all of the powers and duties granted by the general laws of North Carolina to municipal tax collectors, and shall have the power and duty of collecting all taxes, special assessments, public nuisance liens, demolition liens, privilege licenses taxes, fees, penalties and interest payable to the City, except for those assessments, taxes, penalties and interest collected by the New Hanover County tax collector pursuant to a contract between the city and county for the collection of assessments and taxes.
BUDGET IMPACT:
This City has previously allocated funds for this position for FY25.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
Passage of the attached resolution is recommended.
