PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with NAFECO of Decatur, Alabama, for an amount up to $209,210 for the purchase of forty-eight (48) sets of firefighting coats and pants through the NPPGov Government Cooperative Buying Agreement.
BACKGROUND:
With the adoption of the FY26 City of Wilmington budget, City Council authorized the purchase/replacement of firefighting pants, coats, and other personal protective equipment (“PPE”) for structural firefighting within the Fire Department.
N.C.G.S. §143-129(e)(3) provides for an exception to the procedures for letting public contracts if purchases are made through a competitive bidding group procurement program, which is a formally organized program that offers competitively obtained purchasing services at discount prices.
NPPGov Government Cooperative Buying Agreement conducted a full and open competitive solicitation for this equipment and awarded the contract to NAFECO of Decatur, Alabama.
