PURPOSE:
A resolution declaring two vehicles and two mowers surplus property so they can be donated to the Town of Black Mountain is attached for City Council's consideration.
BACKGROUND:
The Town of Black Mountain (“Town”) was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene. The Town requested assistance in the form of any vehicles or equipment that other municipalities would be willing to donate to the Town to help them recover and rebuild. City staff had conversations with representatives from the Town and assessed the ability to donate any property for this recovery effort. The four vehicles/mowers identified in this resolution are what the City is able to provide to meet the needs of the Town of Black Mountain.
The property shall be used solely by the Town of Black Mountain for a public purpose that the Town is authorized by law to engage in. The donation of the surplus vehicles and equipment is allowed pursuant to G.S. Chapter 160A-280(a).
budget
BUDGET IMPACT:
The NADA Resale Value of the vehicles/mowers is estimated to be $14,500. Donating these items to the Town of Black Mountain will result in these funds not otherwise being realized as revenue for the Fleet Fund. This loss of revenue will have a negligible impact on the Fleet Fund.
