PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to establish the City of Wilmington Community Relations Advisory Committee (“CRAC”), and to establish the bylaws for that committee.
BACKGROUND:
In May of 2016, Wilmington City Council approved a “Resolution Approving Bylaws for the New Hanover County/City of Wilmington Community Relations Advisory Committee.” In July of 2025, the City of Wilmington was notified by the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners (“Commission”) that the Commission no longer intended to participate in CRAC. In August of 2025, Wilmington City Council directed City staff to draft bylaws for a new community relations committee that reflected no involvement by the Commission. This resolution establishes a new City of Wilmington Community Relations Advisory Committee, and the new bylaws for that Committee.
