PURPOSE:

Attached for your consideration is an Ordinance to establish the speed limit of 25 mph on Auriana Way, Mirage Way, Congaree Court, Daufuskie Drive, McCarley Boulevard, Eider Lane, and Plover Court, as shown in Exhibits A, B and C.

BACKGROUND:

On May 15, 2018, Council delegated many items in the traffic schedules to the City Manager to adopt administratively. Speed limits were one item retained by Council. All streets within the City limits default to 35 mph unless otherwise posted per N.C.G.S. §20-141(b)(1).

Auriana Way and Mirage Way were constructed as part of the Pacific Place project, while Congaree Court, Daufuskie Drive and McCarley Boulevard were constructed as part of the Woodlands Grove project that are being introduced concurrently for official acceptance for City maintenance.

Eider Lane and Plover Court were constructed as part of the Pond Crossing project and accepted for public maintenance previously.

This action is consistent with the recommended speed limits for newly accepted residential neighborhood streets.
