Attachment #1: Resolution
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to utilize our current contract with Spectrum Enterprise, Inc. ("Spectrum") to enhance the existing network, improve resilience during emergencies, support growth to meet rising technological needs, and provide the most efficient way for users to access the information they require.
BACKGROUND:
On July 16, 2021, the City signed a contract with Spectrum to provide television services, voice services, high-speed internet, fiber internet access, Wide Area Network ("WAN") services, and managed services. This contract enables the City to collaborate with a vendor to design a new network that provides optimal redundancy and scalability to meet our evolving needs, and enable Spectrum to manage some of our equipment. This will free our staff to focus on more critical tasks while ensuring that standard system updates are promptly completed.
The restructure will also give City facilities multiple paths to access our cloud-based software and data stored across various buildings. With the proper hardware and software, these routes will enable our data traffic to be rerouted instantly. If one data circuit fails, it will automatically switch to the next best route, ensuring redundancy for the City in the event of an emergency.
