Attachment #1: Resolution

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this resolution is to express support for Navy Week’s return to the City of Wilmington.

BACKGROUND:

Since 2005, the Navy Week program has served as the Navy's principal outreach effort and deploys 50 to 100 Sailors to a single city for seven days of community engagement - from ship tours and Blue Angels flight demonstrations to Navy Band concerts, Leap Frogs parachute jumps, and hands-on STEM exhibits.

All official Navy Week events are free and open to the public. Each stop generates numerous community events that reach schools, civic organizations, veterans groups, and the general public.

Wilmington was honored to host Navy Weeks in 2019 and 2023 in conjunction with the Azalea Festival.
