PURPOSE:

The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with Jymco Construction Company, Inc. (“Jymco”) in the amount of $1,052,710, for the 2024 Annual Needs Sidewalk Maintenance Contract.

BACKGROUND:

Sidewalk rehabilitation work under this contract will replace or install new ADA compliant ramps on recently resurfaced streets, as well as replace areas of broken or displaced sidewalks. This is a 12-month contract, and it includes provisions to extend the term of the contract for up to two additional one-year periods.

The contract also includes unit pricing for various items that are not included as part of the contract award cost. These unit prices serve as a basis for estimating costs for small transportation projects such as neighborhood traffic calming measures, bicycle and pedestrian improvements, or minor intersection upgrades. The Public Works Department and the Engineering Department will collaborate on these types of projects as they arise, using the unit pricing to develop a scope and estimate potential costs. If appropriate, these projects could be incorporated into this contract as future change orders.

The contract was competitively bid through the City’s purchasing department, with Jymco being the lowest responsible bidder in the amount of $1,052,710.
