Attachment #1: Resolution

PURPOSE

The purpose of this resolution is to declare the following SABLE helicopter equipment as surplus property so it can be donated to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (“BCSO”): Churchill Mapping System, Forward Looking Infrared imaging system, SX-16 Search Light and associated connectors, Garmin 650, Dynon D6 Aircraft Flight Information System, Dynon D10 Aircraft Flight Information System, and 2- Macro Blue Monitors.

BACKGROUND:

The BCSO requested the City’s assistance to have unused helicopter equipment from the SABLE program donated to them for use with their helicopter. The WPD has transitioned from helicopters to a drone program, and the requested equipment is no longer of use to the department. The donation of surplus equipment is permitted under N.C.G.S. §160A-280(a).

BUDGET IMPACT:

The estimated fair market value of this equipment is $191,330.  Donating these items will prevent them from being recognized as revenue for the City.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

Passage of the resolution as presented is recommended.
