Attachment #1: Ordinance; Attachment #2: Exhibit A |
PURPOSE:
Attached for your consideration is an ordinance to establish a speed limit of 25 mph on William Booth Drive, as shown in Exhibit A in the item package.
BACKGROUND:
On May 15, 2018, Council delegated many items in the traffic schedules to the City Manager to adopt administratively. Speed Limits were one item retained by Council. All streets within the City limits default to 35 mph, unless otherwise posted, per N.C.G.S. Sec. 20-141(b)(1).
This new roadway was constructed as part of the Salvation Army project, as shown on Exhibit A, which is being introduced concurrently for consideration for official acceptance and City maintenance. A 25-mph speed limit along this roadway is consistent with the recommended speed limits for new accepted residential neighborhood streets.
