PURPOSE

The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to apply for a Community Oriented Policing Services (“COPS”) FY26 Law Enforcement Mental Health and Wellness Act (“LEMHWA”) Program grant in the amount of $250,000 to allow the WPD to fund a Wellness Coordinator position for two (2) years and to purchase one (1) vehicle, one (1) computer, and uniforms.

 

BACKGROUND:   

Grant funding is available to increase the delivery of and access to mental health and wellness services, training, and programming for employees of law enforcement agencies and their families.

 

BUDGET IMPACT:  

The grant will fund the total project cost of $250,000, with no local match required.

 

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

Passage of the attached resolution is recommended.
