PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to adopt the 2026 Southeastern North Carolina Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan 5-year update.
BACKGROUND:
The Southeastern North Carolina Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan establishes the broad community vision and guiding principles for reducing hazard risk, and further proposes specific mitigation actions to eliminate or reduce identified vulnerabilities. Section 322 of the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires local governments to develop an all-hazards mitigation plan in order to be eligible to receive future Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds and other disaster-related assistance funding, and requires that plans be updated and adopted within a five-year cycle. The City adopted the current SENC Hazard Mitigation Plan on April 25, 2021.
