PURPOSE:
The purpose of this ordinance is to appropriate funds in the amount of $65,232 to purchase one (1) Drying Chamber, one (1) Lab Fuming Chamber, one (1) Cyanoacrylate Fuming Chamber, one (1) High Resolution Panocam with Mount, and one (1) Crime-Lite Auto, for use by WPD’s Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
BACKGROUND:
The total cost of the equipment requested is $65,232. The City was awarded a Justice Assistance Grant (“JAG”) from the U.S. Department of Justice (“DOJ”) in the amount of $64,657. The City also has $575 in NC Drug Tax funds available to appropriate toward this purchase. The purchase of this equipment will enhance and expand WPD’s ability to detect and collect evidence at crime scenes.
BUDGET IMPACT:
$64,657 of the total project cost will be funded through the JAG award, with $575 to be funded from the NC Drug Tax Fund.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
Passage of the attached ordinance is recommended.
