Attachment #1: Resolution

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to execute a one-year professional services agreement with Wilmington Health PLLC to continue to serve as the City’s occupational medicine/health provider.

BACKGROUND:

Wilmington Health is a well-known and locally owned medical practice that has provided the City of Wilmington with occupational health services since 2020. They provide pre-employment medical evaluations and annual medical evaluations for public safety employees and CDL drivers. They also administer treatment of work-related injuries/illnesses, provide a substance abuse program, and a offer a vaccination program. Because Wilmington has very few occupational health providers that can handle the needs of the City, staff recommends extending the current contract for one year while we explore our needs and move forward with a request for proposals for the next fiscal year. Service prices have increased from last year, requiring more funding.

BUDGET IMPACT:

Based on our current staffing and the anticipated fee costs, the proposed agreement for FY27 will cost approximately $140,000.

RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:

Staff respectfully recommends that City Council adopt the resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a one-year Professional Services Agreement with Wilmington Health PLLC, contingent upon FY27 budget approval. This action continues to provide the necessary services that are required regarding the health and well-being of employees before and during their employment with the City.
