PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to declare fifty-two (52) Motorola radios as surplus property so they can be donated to the Town of Holly Ridge and to New Hanover County.
BACKGROUND:
The Town of Holly Ridge requested the City’s assistance by donating five (5) of our surplus radios to aid their department of sixteen (16) officers. New Hanover County has requested forty-seven (47) of our surplus radios for assignment to the Joint North Carolina Urban Search and Rescue Team. These will be used to aid in disaster response. The donation of surplus equipment is permitted under N.C.G.S. §160A-280(a).

BUDGET IMPACT:
Resale value of the Motorola radios are estimated to be $80,000. Donating these items will result in these funds not otherwise being realized as revenue for the Fleet Fund. This loss of revenue will have a negligible impact on the Fleet Fund.
