PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to amend the membership requirements for the Convention Center Advisory Committee.
BACKGROUND:
City Council adopted a resolution establishing the Convention Center Advisory Committee (CCAC) on August 19, 2008, and revised the composition of the CCAC on April 5, 2011, to consist of nine (9) board members serving three (3) year staggered terms. This request will change the membership requirement for 1 seat from a representative of the Convention Center Hotel (Embassy Suites) to a more general requirement for that seat to be for someone from the Convention Center Hotel District. The Appointments Committee has had difficulty filling the seat for the Convention Center Hotel member, and it is believed this request will attract additional participants in the CCAC, particularly from the expanding Convention Center Hotel District.
