PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to revise Policy 212 - “Paid Leave” to allow City employees to receive up to 8 hours of additional volunteer leave for volunteering and serving at City-sponsored events.
BACKGROUND:
Current policy allows staff to use up to 8 hours of school/volunteer leave per fiscal year. If adopted, this revised policy will allow employees up to 8 hours of additional leave to volunteer at City-sponsored community service events. If employees volunteer at City-sponsored events outside their normal work hours, they will receive compensatory time off equal to the hours volunteered. This additional leave must be used each fiscal year; it will not carry over from year to year.
Only Section 7 of Policy 212 is affected by these revisions; the remainder of Policy 212 will remain the same.
