PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to declare one (1) Pramac light tower generator as surplus property to be donated to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.
BACKGROUND:
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance through the donation of one (1) Pramac light tower generator to support their law enforcement activities. The donation of surplus equipment is permitted under N.C.G.S. §160A-280(a).
The 2014 Pramac generator/light tower was acquired in 2014 through the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. All requirements associated with the grant have been satisfied, and the City is authorized to dispose of the equipment in accordance with its needs and applicable policies. There is no longer a need for this equipment by the City since the WPD has acquired newer and more advanced equipment.
The equipment has been fully depreciated and currently carries a book value of $0. The equipment could provide a significant benefit to a smaller or less-funded agency that may otherwise have limited resources to acquire similar equipment.
The proposed donation presents an opportunity to maximize the equipment's continued usefulness, strengthen interagency cooperation, and support the shared mission of maintaining a safe community and region.
BUDGET IMPACT:
There is no budget impact associated with this item.
RECOMMENDATION / ACTION REQUESTED:
Passage of the attached resolution is recommended to authorize the donation of surplus property to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office.
