PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to authorize the City Manager to renew the agreement with SoundThinking, Inc., for the Wilmington Police Department’s ShotSpotter System for FY27.
BACKGROUND:
WPD first implemented the ShotSpotter system for gunfire locating services in 2011. The system has proven to be a valuable crime-fighting tool. Officers have been able to solve crimes more effectively and efficiently due to the ability to identify the location of gunfire.

BUDGET IMPACT:
The amount of $426,035 for this annual renewal is included in the Police Department’s base budget, contingent upon the approval of the FY27 annual budget.
