PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to renew the Interlocal Agreement with New Hanover County and the New Hanover County Board of Education to provide (4) four sworn officers to serve as School Resource Officers within the school system.
BACKGROUND:
The police department has provided School Resource Officers to serve at New Hanover County Schools within the City of Wilmington for many years. This partnership is critical to maintaining the safety of students and staff, as well as advancing public safety throughout our community.

BUDGET IMPACT:
The New Hanover County Board of Education will pay one-third (33 1/3%) of the costs incurred by the City for these four (4) officers, not to exceed $69,914.
