PURPOSE:
The purpose of this resolution is to award a purchasing contract in the amount of $176,410 for 2,000 banquet chairs to Thrifty Office Furniture, for use at the Wilmington Convention Center.
BACKGROUND:
The Wilmington Convention Center opened in January 2011. The banquet chairs currently being utilized for events at the facility were purchased in 2011. These chairs have been in use for fourteen (14) years and have now reached the end of their life cycle. The replacement of these chairs is planned within the Convention Center’s 5-year capital budget.
The City’s purchasing division issued a bid invitation for the purchase, delivery, and installation of two thousand (2,000) new chairs in March 2025. Two (2) bids were received, and the lowest responsible bidder was Thrifty Office Furniture in the amount of $176,410. The chairs being purchased are an exact match to the facility’s current chairs in use.
